Hi everyone and welcome back to Met Monday hosted by Susan at "Between Naps on the Porch" and " UBP 2009 "hosted by 5 minutes for mom. Don't forget to stop by Susan's blog to see her transformation of her entryway, and 5 minutes for mom to learn about the Ultimate Blog Party 2009.

I have a fairly simple transformation today. My kitchen table is always a dumping ground for just about everything and sometimes I just procrastinate and say "I'll do that later". (sound familiar) Well I could not take it any more .I made a new floral arrangement with flowers I already owned and reinvented the container it is in. I also used some spring cloth napkins to make a tablerunner down the center of this some what dated oak table. Here it is-YIPPIE!

I had yellow tulips, red geraniums, and white accents flowers.
I had these pears so I hid some in the arrangement.
Here is a close up of the tulips and yellow daisies I also had.

Just another view including the napkins and a clean table. Ah how nice it is!

The container had been used as a fruit bowl on my kitchen Island with fresh fruit.

So now I have this lovely fresh fruit bowl that had been used for the artificial pears.
Re purposing is always a good idea.

If you are tired of looking at the cluttered counter or kitchen table, take an hour of your time. Look around the house and in your silk flower stash, organize the smallest area and add a decorative item. You will be so happy you did.! This small transformation makes me smile, whenever I walk into the kitchen, instead of looking at the dreadful pile of papers that I just could not get myself to deal with.
Expressively, Sofia

  1. Hello, I'm new to your blog! It's always hard to stop dumping things on the table, at our house it's the island. The centerpiece you created is gorgeous! I love the pop of colors.
Come by and vist me, I'm having a giveaway.

  2. Lovely centerpiece; you have a good eye for arranging!

I think everyone has those places in their homes that collect oddball clutter. It's so hard to "police" them and keep them cleanswept. I am always on the lookout for attractive baskets, etc., where I can stash paperwork, mail, etc., till it's either tossed or permanently filed. Kudos to you for conquering that table clutter!

  3. What a pretty arrangement. My table used to look like that too when my kids were little. I kind of miss it a little......only a little;)

  5. So pretty Sofia...it's hard to have fresh flowers all the time, so your spring arrangement makes the whole table look cheerful..and with your new runner you won't want to put stuff on the table since it would scrunch your runner...hee hee decorating forces us to stay neat! :-)

  8. What a great idea and what a transformation. I know how easy it is for the kitchen table and in my case the island to become the dumping ground for everything. I keep reminding everyone not to dump, but you know how that goes. lol Your new arrangement and table runner are both stunning. Also, I am really impressed with using the napkins to make the runner. Great idea. Hugs, Marty

  9. Pretty colors, love it!
I know now that I post on Tablescape Thursdays, that sure makes me keep my tables tidied up. I like it though and I think hubby does too.
Plus we eat at them more also, important.

  10. Hello Sofia,

Sorry it's taken me a few days to drop in... I wanted to come by and thank you for stopping in at DesignTies this last Monday and for leaving such a terrific comment about the family bathroom transformation in my previous home. It was so nice to have everything updated and new... well, for a time! We're now living with a bathroom that (in part) dates back to 1939! Nothing nice and new about it!!

I'm looking forward to browsing through your blog... I can already relate to your most recent post about your kitchen table, the dumping ground! My husband bought me a little pot of flowers a few weeks back and they've now died... your arrangement has me thinking about putting something pretty there again!!

    All the best,
